Flag Raising and Citizenship Ceremony Palmerston

The annual Flag Raising and Citizenship ceremony will be held at 1 pm on Saturday 26th January at the Recreation Centre, The Boulevard, Palmerston.
The afternoon commences with a welcome to Country followed by the Tri-service flag raising ceremony. The Australian flag is raised for citizens to show their respect of the country by honouring our national symbol.
This year's Australia Day Ambassador is Rachael Fosdick, a previous Citizen of the year who will tell her story.
Forty Conferees will make the Australian Citizenship pledge at the ceremony.
Australia Day Citizen/Young Citizen and Event of the Year will be awarded for the hard working contributions our local people put into our community.
Entertainment will be performed by NT Dance Company – a performance of celebrating the journey of life regardless of complications and Crocodile Country (Australian Band run by Kevin McCarthy). Australia Day Ambassador

Rachel Fosdick

Rachel commits to hours of voluntary work during the week and weekends and spent tireless hours as a member of the Bakewell Preschool Committee and Primary School Council including two years as Chairperson. For over 10 years, she was involved in Palmerston Power Basketball Club assisting as the Registrar, Secretary and fundraising. Rachel saw the need for Basketball competitions to be played in Palmerston and started the Palmerston and Rural Basketball Association, running programs including, Aussie Hoops, Wheelchair Basketball, Senior Social Competitions and the emerging Athletes Program. She works tirelessly sourcing external funding and sponsorship to help fund the basketball programs.
